I'm a baker, Chef's wife, and mother to several special needs children. I homeschool my children. Between the sensory meltdowns ,schooling , ballet and music lessons, I find time ,mostly at night, to explore what my kitchen can come up with .
Ick and ew!.
My kids are my biggest critics ! Between my SPD kids, there are conflicting needs.
"Crunchy please!""Soft and chewy please!"
I even have a few that can't stand sweet at all! Also ,they are just kids.
My oldest two have shown an interest in cooking/baking recently.
Cooking is a calming "quiet time" thing my Awesome Aspergers , SPD,and ADHD kids! Plus the added benefit of experiencing different and yes difficult textures.
We have been toying with a few new ideas that we added to old ,and currant plans... The first is the mobile bakery! And I mean mobile,as in goes everywhere! Here and there! Were you are! All the way in Boston,Houston,Colorado, Georgia, Kansas, ...you get what I mean. We've seen and heard from multiple homeschool families that have gone on such amazing adventures..all the while making moneys on the dream jobs.so I'm picturing an rv that holds my team of Jr bakers and I,& hubby chef . going independent with homeschooling and teaching them life skills along the way.there is so much to consider...so much in preparations..downsizing our ,already small, living stile. We have been discussing it with our kids and getting their feedback.we would also like feedback from other families who have taken there scholl/life..on the road ,and what wisdom you could share with us to help prepare us for changes we might face.
